Settings
Difficulty
Strict
Movement and star paths should feel somewhat natural in most places. If a forward jump is expected, you will have Jump or Longjump available.
Reasonable
Movement and shortcuts should be sightreadable. Sideflip counts as a forward jump, and Dive Rollouts might be expected for clearing flat gaps.
Obscure
Movement might feel unclear without savestate practice, but should be consistent if you know how to do it. The path to each star could be anywhere. Some stars might expect backflip wallkicks instead of forward jumps, and some coin stars might be more tedious.
Hard
Movement might reach light kaizo difficulty, and savestate practice or a video example might be highly recommended for some skips.
Forgo self-defense
For some stars, the logic expects additional moves that will help you defend yourself against Flyguys, Lakitus, or other enemies. You can disable this feature here or by setting the main difficulty to Hard.
Hack-specific options
BCBCAC
The answer to the Thwomp quiz, letting you skip the first half of Tower of Tempora. Disable if you want to climb the tower in full.
v1.0.1
Only relevant if you want to play with rollouts - you can Reasonably enter OW2 on v1.0.1 using unreferenced walls, but I heard that later versions require Hard double turnaround dives.
Glitches
NBG
Noteblock glitches. Most involve a frame-perfect dive, although the NBG to the tower in C5 can be retriably done using a boo bounce.
Framewalk
There's a relatively easy framewalk at the start of C6, and some strats for C6s3 involve framewalks as well. Climbing the big slope with nothing but a framewalk is additionally considered Hard.
Locations
C14 sign
There is a slightly non-obvious sign beyond the lake surrounding the level. You can Reasonably just swim to this sign without needing any moves.
S2 sign
Above the clouds, the tower behind the pipe has an Obscure sign. Use a TJWK, an NBG, or a Hard longjump from the highest brick to reach it.
B1 sign
In Tower of Tempora, the beam with the last pole has an Obscure sign. An arch wallkick from the pole easily reaches it, but a Hard arch polejump also gets the job done.
Routes
Reasonable
C1 island
You can skip the cannon by swimming to the left edge of the island's slope, then using a steepjump dive, jumpkicks, or an Obscure sideflip to get up.
C2s3 star grab
To grab the star with jumpkicks, climb the slope then use the momentum to jump into the star.
C3 lone house
Instead of jumping from the pillar next to the warp, you can reach the star path directly from the ground with a good enough jump, longjump, or sideflip dive.
C3 hidden pipe
You can use water jumps to reach the pipe without a shell. The switch can be reached with a TJWK from the ground next to the pipe.
C5 cliff/town area
- Reasonable: Doublejump onto the first arch of the star 1 path, then longjump to the grey slope.
- Obscure: Use the pipe past the star 1 path to go all the way to the town area, then backtrack to the cliff area from there.
C5 tower (NBG)
Climb to the town, then use a boo bounce NBG from the highest noteblock to launch to the top few platforms of the tower. Video example: https://youtu.be/fGcsgy6Asng?t=670 (dive is not required)
C6 pipe
- Strict: Start from the pipe near star 2.
- Obscure: From the cliff area, you can enter the star 7 pipe and go left, disobeying the sign.
C7 star 3 path
Two lavabounces from spawn.
Obscure
C4 metal cap skip
From the 2d pipe exit (only requires entering the bottom middle pipe), you can reach the star platform with a variety of slopejump combos. Video example: https://youtu.be/fGcsgy6Asng?t=749
C6 cliff area
There's a pretty easy longjump to the star 5 path, just need to dpad right for a bit and longjump from the sloped part of the sand pipe at full running speed. Video example: https://youtu.be/fGcsgy6Asng?t=536
C7 plateau
You can go from the pipe behind spawn to the pipe near the blue coin switch, then climb from there.
C8 noteblock star
After the noteblock, two 45° wallkicks can make it up to the last set of boxes in time.
C8 panels
You can grab the metal cap by lavaboosting onto the box, crawling off, and groundpounding. Mind the cap timer.
C10 reds/80c
Climb the house, then jump or dive rollout from the big flower.
C11 star 7
Wallkick up to the hot platforms, then use 2 bounces to get to the star. Video example: https://youtu.be/SPKdjsJ2sNo?t=942
C12 shell skip
- Obscure: Longjump from star 1 directly to the star platform. Video example: https://youtu.be/fGcsgy6Asng?t=1178
- Hard: Angle setup and run onto the pyramid, then slidefall to the star platform. Video example: https://discord.com/channels/1345801058609270794/1346146151086428200/1467161782941519993
C13 sewer reds
Video reference with only wallkicks: https://youtu.be/rNy_wyVy4kQ
Hard
C8 boxes to the cannon area
First, clear the bully. Then do 5 backflips, 2 lavabounces, and finally either dive through the heart or make it to the house in 2+1 bounces.
C9 numbers
You can twirl from the 4 to the 6. The only problem is that twirling on this flyguy can be pretty hard.
